Where the photographs happen

The Dock by the Pond

The pier out over the water is the venue's best asset. Late in the day the pond throws light back up under the chin, which is the single most flattering thing a venue can do for you. It is also where the wide shot lives — guests on the lawn, couple on the water.

The Arbor and the lawn

Outdoor ceremony structure with the pond behind it and a heavy tree line beyond that. Clean background, no neighbors, nothing to crop out.

The Big Barn

The 200-capacity indoor reception room. It is the rain plan of last resort and the evening room, and it is where our lighting does the heavy work once the sun is gone.

The Pavilion

Open-air covered space and the venue's stated wet-weather ceremony plan. Soft, even light under a roof — if the day turns, this is not a downgrade photographically.

The Manor

A 6,000+ sq ft guest house on the property. Practically, it means the getting-ready photographs happen somewhere with actual space and actual windows, and the family is not driving in from a hotel at 7am.

The tree line

The pond is ringed by tall trees, and in October and November that ring turns. If you have any flexibility on date and you care about color, book the back half of autumn.

Timing your day here

• Getting ready — the Manor or the dressing suites. The Manor is the better room if it is available to you.
• Ceremony — at the Arbor or the dock, roughly 90 minutes to two hours before sunset. On open lawn with a big sky, earlier than that is a squint.
• Family portraits — straight after, in open shade at the tree line. Named list, twenty minutes.
• Couple portraits — the last half hour of light, out on the pier. Non-negotiable if you want the picture this venue is known for.
• Reception — the Big Barn. Confirm your end time with the venue; no curfew is published, and bands need to know.

Enchanted Gardens has the space and the overnight accommodation a multi-day celebration needs. The open questions are all about policy rather than layout:

• Room for a mandap on the lawn by the Arbor, with the pond and the tree line behind it.
• The Manor sleeps the immediate family on site, which takes most of the chaos out of a two-day event.
• Catering needs a straight answer. The venue offers in-house catering through The Sugar Shack and has a caterer prep kitchen, but it does not state in writing that outside caterers are welcome. For an Indian menu, get that confirmed before you book.
• Alcohol, music curfew, open flame and sparklers are all unpublished. If your day needs a havan, a dhol or a late reception, those are four separate questions for the venue.
• A baraat is not addressed, though the drive and lawn have the room for one.
