Thirteen acres in south-west Wake County, built out from a 1950s barn: a pond with a working fountain, a dock that runs out over the water, a covered pavilion for when it rains, and horses in the field behind you. It is one of the easier farm venues in the Triangle to work with, and the water is why.

Where the photographs happen

The dock and the pond

The signature spot, and the reason to book here. The dock runs out over the water with the fountain behind it, which gives you a ceremony backdrop nobody has to decorate. Water also doubles your light in the last hour of the day — a couple standing at the end of that dock at sunset is lit from two directions at once.

The peninsula

The quieter second water-edge option, better for a smaller ceremony or for portraits after the formalities. Willows at the edge give you something to shoot through.

The barn

Renovated from the 1950s structure: weathered barn wood, exposed beams, string lights and white drapery. It is a warm, low room with mixed tungsten and daylight, so we light it deliberately rather than relying on what is hanging from the beams.

The pavilion

Covered outdoor space. It is the rain plan, and it is also where cocktail hour lives on a good day — open sides mean soft, even light that flatters everyone.

The horses and the tree line

There are horses on the property, and guests find them. The woodland edge that rings the thirteen acres is what keeps the wide shots clean — no neighbors, no power lines.

Timing your day here

Getting ready — the bride and groom suites are in the barn and they are not large. We work tight and use the window light; give us 75 to 90 minutes if you want details and dressing covered properly.
Ceremony — on the dock or the lawn, roughly 90 minutes to two hours before sunset. Any earlier on a clear afternoon and the open lawn is harsh with no shade to retreat to.
Family portraits — immediately after, in the open shade near the barn rather than out on the lawn. Twenty minutes with a named list.
Couple portraits — the last half hour of light, at the water. This is the shot this venue exists for. Protect it on the timeline.
Reception — barn, with the string lights doing the mood and our lights doing the actual work.

Morris Peaceland is a fairly flexible farm venue, which is what matters most for a South Asian celebration:

Outside caterers are allowed and there is no forced preferred list, so you can bring the caterer your family actually wants. Confirm kitchen and prep arrangements directly.
You can bring your own alcohol and the venue staffs the bar.
Open lawn for a mandap with the pond and tree line behind it — a clean backdrop that needs very little decorating.
Room for a procession along the drive and the lawn, though the venue does not publish a baraat policy. Raise it early.
