Post 6 is in Chapel Hill, at 3700 NC Highway 54 West, not in Raleigh. Raleigh's American Legion venue is Post 1 on Sawmill Road, which is a different place entirely.

Can we bring our own caterer to Post 6?

Post 6 Wedding Photographer — Chapel Hill, NC

Purpose-built in 2019 by American Legion Post 6 on 123 acres of repurposed farmland, fifteen minutes from downtown Chapel Hill. A pillarless ballroom under a 35-foot cupola, a clubroom with a double-sided fireplace, a courtyard that opens off both, and a two-acre pond with a gazebo out in the meadow. It lets you bring any licensed caterer and your own alcohol, which is rarer than it should be.

Where the photographs happen

The Ballroom

Pillarless, which matters more than it sounds — there is nothing to shoot around, so a wide frame of the room actually works. The 35-foot cupola gives real vertical interest instead of the flat ceiling most banquet rooms hand you, and there is a stage to shoot from.

The Clubroom

The best-looking room in the building. Thirty-five-foot wooden beams, a double-sided fireplace and a built-in bar. Warm wood plus firelight is a gift for cocktail hour and detail shots, and the fireplace is a backdrop you do not have to build.

The courtyard

Paved, and it opens directly off both the Clubroom and the Ballroom. On a tight timeline that adjacency is worth a lot — ceremony, cocktails and reception with no shuttling and no lost light.

The gazebo and the pond

Out on the grounds, away from the building. This is your portrait location, and it is far enough from the parking that the frames are clean.

123 acres of open meadow

The western view is unobstructed — no neighboring buildings, no power lines. That is a real golden hour, not a compromise, and it is the reason to hold the couple portraits outside rather than in.

Timing your day here

The hard stop is 11pm and it includes teardown. Work backwards from that when you build the timeline — it is the single most important number here.
Getting ready — the Boardroom and Auxiliary Room. Both are on site, so nobody is arriving from a hotel.
Ceremony — courtyard or out by the gazebo, 90 minutes to two hours before sunset.
Family portraits — in the courtyard or in the Clubroom if the light has gone. Named list, twenty minutes.
Couple portraits — the last half hour of light, out in the meadow or at the pond. The open western horizon here is the best light in the whole day.
Reception — the Ballroom, shot from the stage as well as the floor.

Post 6 is unusually accommodating on the two things that normally decide a South Asian wedding:
