Alcohol policy, music curfew, and open flame and sparkler rules are not published anywhere for this venue. This is a working farm with dry pasture, so confirm the sparkler question in particular before you plan an exit.

Where the photographs happen

The pasture and the rail fencing

Forty acres of open field with black rail fencing running through it and a wooded tree line beyond. Photographically this is the whole point: clean horizon lines, dark fence rails that lead the eye, and a tree line to backlight against in the last hour. There is nothing to crop out of these frames.

The cattle

Live black Angus in the pastures, and the farm leads with them for good reason. They are a background element you will not get anywhere else in the Triangle, and guests find them before you do.

The barn

Three and a half thousand square feet, renovated and climate controlled — which for a July wedding in North Carolina is not a luxury. It has an indoor bar with a sink and refrigerator. Ceiling height and window count are not published, so we scout it before committing to available light indoors.

The covered patio

Open-air but roofed, and it is where cocktail hour lives. Soft even light under a roof, and it holds up if the weather turns.

The farmhouse suite

Sixteen hundred square feet with proper hair and make-up stations, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Getting-ready coverage is only as good as the room, and this is a good room.

Timing your day here

Getting ready in the farmhouse suite. There is space and there are windows, so give us 90 minutes and we will use them.
Ceremony outdoors, roughly 90 minutes to two hours before sunset. There are several ceremony sites; we walk them with you and pick by the light and the direction your guests will face.
Family portraits straight after, in open shade at the tree line. Named list, twenty minutes.
Couple portraits in the last half hour of light, out in the pasture along the fence line. This is the best light and the best background on the property, in the same place.
Reception in the barn. Confirm your end time — no curfew is published, and your band will want to know.

Wood Angus is a small-to-mid-size farm venue rather than a big-wedding venue, but its vendor policy makes it unusually workable:

Any caterer you like. The venue's own copy is blunt about it — unlike many wedding venues, you choose your own vendors. For an Indian menu, that removes the usual obstacle at a stroke.
Room for a mandap anywhere on forty acres, with a pasture and tree line behind it rather than a car park.
Plenty of room for a procession along the drive and the field edge, though the venue publishes no baraat policy.
Two hundred guests is the ceiling. If your guest list runs to 400, this is not the venue.
Open flame is not addressed, and this is a working farm with dry pasture. A havan or an agni kund needs a direct conversation and probably a fire plan.
No commercial catering kitchen is published — there is a kitchen in the farmhouse suite. Ask your caterer to confirm what they need and check it against what is there.
